Tips For Trips

By now you all know we arrange group dive trips to wonderful destinations all around the world. But did you know that we can also arrange an individual, customized trip just for you? The main difference is that on your trip you choose who goes and you will not have one of our dive leaders to guide you.

If we can help arrange your next dive vacation please let us know—we’d be delighted to help.

Dear DiveAssure Partner,

In light of the recent developments in the US financial market, and specifically in regard to American International Group (AIG), we would like to offer some clarifications on the current situation relevant to you as a valued DiveAssure partner and to your clients – DiveAssure members.

DiveAssure insurance is underwritten by National Union Fire Insurance Company of Pittsburgh , PA. , Inc. a Pennsylvania insurance company. National Union Fire Insurance Company of Pittsburgh , Pa. is indeed a member of American International Group, Inc. (AIG), a company which has been going through certain financial difficulties recently.

Below is part of a statement released by Sandy Praeger, President of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (to read the full news release and related readings visit: http://www.naic.org/Releases/2008_docs/AIG_pay_claims.htm; http://www.naic.org/Releases/2008_docs/AIG_facts.htm).  "American International Group, Inc., is a financial holding company that owns 71 U.S..-based insurance entities and 176 other financial services companies throughout the world. These include banks, securities firms and non-U.S.. insurers, along with other related businesses like premium finance companies. The 71 state-regulated insurance entities are not the problem. They are all financially sound — or, in insurance regulatory terms, "solvent" — and fully able to pay claims presented by policyholders and claimants.

Even throughout the AIG financial holding company's liquidity crisis, consumers remained protected by insurance regulatory rules that prevented the parent company from simply raiding capital from its profitable and well-capitalized insurance subsidiaries. A coordinated effort by the nation's insurance regulators ensured that no policyholder assets were used for any part of this transaction".

Should you have any further questions please feel free to contact us and we will be happy to assist you.

 Sincerely,

 The DiveAssure Team

Who Stinks?

Phew! Who Smells?

Those of us who have a few dives under our weight belts have probably asked, or been asked, that question on a few occasions. We all know how important it is to rinse our gear off after we have been diving, but there comes a time when rinsing is not enough. Any gear that can trap moisture (i.e. wetsuits, bathing suits, booties and gloves) should be washed with the proper solution theoretically after every dive. Certainly at the end of a trip and most definitely when that smell wafts up.

Cleaning is especially important after diving in salt water since the salt can cause a corrosion problem and we all know that the smallest grain of sand can interfere with the performance of the diaphragm on any regulator.

While we’re on the subject of gear care—don’t forget the importance of correct storage, which translated means NOT IN THE GARAGE. Any temperature extreme can adversely affect the materials and therefore the performance of the equipment. With proper care your dive gear can stay in great shape for many years.
